Pr. William A. Stoll was born November 29, 1928, in West Orange, New Jersey. He graduated from Columbia University School of Engineering in New York City, and from the Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois. There he met Irma Dorothy Steen, who was born in the western state of Montana, but grew up in Evanston, Illinois. She graduated from Northwestern University, the Evanston Hospital School of Nursing and the Northern Baptist Teological Seminary.

They were married May 24th , 1952. They both served at the first Baptist Church, Bloomfield, New Jersey, he as Assistant pastor, and she as church secretary.

The couple went to Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, in late 1955, to study the Portuguese language. He pastored the Igreja Batista Monte Castelo in São Luis, Maranhão, from 1957 through 1959, then the Igreja Batista de Itapetinga, São Paulo, from 1966 to 1970. He organized and Pastored the Igreja Batista Jardim das Oliveiras in São Paulo, from 1971 to 1976, and later served the Igreja Batista de Vila Missionária in 1986 and 1987.

The Stolls were involved in building programs in each of the above churches. In the United States, they were founders of Kearny Baptist Church, which was organized in 1991. A year after, a group purchased the present property and Pastor Stoll retired. (1995)

In Maranhão Pastor Bill worked with the Baptist Church at the Bom Fim Leper Colony, and founded and directed the Christian Bookstore. From 1971 until 1987 he served as business manager and treasurer of New Life Publishers (Edições Vida Nova) now located in Cidade Dutra in Interlagos, São Paulo. From 1973 to 1987 he was professor of Old testament at the Faculdade Teologica Batista de São Paulo, and for seven years Da. Irma served there as Professora of Christian Education.

Pr. Bill has the joy of baptizing 63 Brazilians in the Kearny Baptist Church.
