The grace of God (02/29/04 - Night)

Text: Psalm 63:3

Introduction:

  • Illustration: Pr. R. Shedd tells us that a boy from the farm who came to the city. He went to a building with his father and it was the first time that he saw an elevator. He saw and old lady entering the elevator and as soon as she entered a young lady got out. He told his father: "Dad, put mom inside"
Application: This is what the grace of God does to us. It renews us.
  • What is the grace? It is a favor that we don't deserve. A gift from God. We will never be able to pay. We have to stop trying to deserve it. God will never make us pay for it.
  • Also: It is the base of our relationship with God. We were saved by grace and we have to live by grace.
  • The grace of God can make many works in our lives. Let's see 3.
1. The grace makes us accept the forgiveness of God.
There are two types of fault.
The legitimate, generated by the action of the Holy Spirit.
The false fault. If we already repented and asked for forgiveness, there is no reason to feel guilt. It is Satan's fault.
2. The grace makes us rest in God.
The problem of anxiety, the number one enemy of the human being. Like John Haggai says in his book "How to over come worries"
Anxiety has the same root as the word "Suffocate" We think that we can control life's situations.
3. The grace restores the meaning of life.
II Corinthians 12:9 is the medicine against depression.
Illustration: Luke 15:28-30 , the other son.

Conclusion:

  • What is the base of all religions?
Man has to do something to deserve God's favor.
  • In Christianity, everything is done. The one who believes is forgiven.
  • The grace is in our praises, in our sermons, except in our personal experience.
  • Do you have a suicidal heart? What is this?
It is a heart that needs God's grace and rejects it. It will die. It is a suicide.
