Text: Matthew 8: 5-10
Introduction
- A Centurion, commands 100 soldiers of the Roman Army
- The centurion was religious but he came to Jesus.
- All references to the centurions of the NT are good references.
- What impresses Jesus.
| 1. | The centurion's behavior |
| 2. | The centurion's faith. |
- John 12:37. The crown did not have faith.
- Matthew 16:8. The disciples showed little faith.
- Mark 8:9. The centurion had great faith.
- For him, Jesus to have a super-natural power was as simple as the power he had as a military.
| B) | A great faith, related to the position he had. |
- He wasn't afraid of mocking.
- What people would think about him.
- He had no shame.
| C) | A great faith related to the circumstances. |
- He came to Jesus to ask for a slave. Matthew 8:6
- If it was a relative.
| D) | A great faith related to the results. Matthew 8:13 |
- As we believe, we have experiences with God.
- What was your last experience of faith? Believing in God?
Conclusion
- Faith is to trust that what Jesus said or promisses will happen.
- Do not put your faith on a concept or idea.
- The faith that work is put on a person: Jesus.
- This is what the centurion did.
- Hebrew 11:6 - "...anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists..." Matthew 8:5
