Text: Daniel 6:10-22
Introduction.
- The Old Testament tells the story of many immigrants. - Men and women that immigrated for various reasons. - I point out two immigrants: Daniel and Joseph. - Joseph was sent to Egypt by his brothers. - His story involves family dissension and hatred. - The story of Joseph begins in Genesis 37 and goes until chapter 47. - Daniel immigrated in a forced way as well. - Daniel 1:1-4 informs that he went to Babylon with other young Hebrews. - What kind of wealth did Nebuchadnezzar want to take to Babylon? Young people.
Illustration: Young Patric. “Be recognized”. Reached his goal.
- Application: Who is keeping our great wealth, our children?
A) When everything is facing me.
- Daniel 6:16a “and threw him into the lions’ den”. - Lesson: God takes care of us in difficult moments. - This lesson is not incorrect, but incomplete. Why? - We need to ask: What is the reason that made God bless me? - God gives material goods, God heals, God keeps us from danger, God allows suffering, and God takes away the suffering. - What is God’s reason to do all this? - John 12:27-28. Example of Jesus. Yes. - God takes care of us (Daniel) it is not wrong, but that is not all. - “Before the eternity of God, our lives don’t reach far”.
B) When all is facing God.
- Daniel 6:20. “the God, whom you serve” - One question: To whom does God live? - For the creation? But it is temporary... - For the angels? That rebelled? - For humanity. Mark 7:20-22 - For God Himself. He lives to reflect his glory in a billion different ways. - The Bible says that He is: The Lord of glory, King of Kings, Creator of all things. The source of eternal salvation. Alpha and Omega. - Colossians 1: 16-17
Conclusion.
- We need to choose all the time between: “our glory” and the glory of God, honor God always. - Daniel 6:26-27. God is the center. Everything must be for the glory of God. - Application: Including our coming to the US.
