Text: Joshua 6: 1-8
Introduction.
- Jericho; “palm tree city” - It has high walls. It was an important city, rich and well kept. - And blocked the entrance to the people of Israel and the promise land. - It was the first great challenge to the people of Israel. - Joshua 6:4. 7 Priests, 7 trumpets, 7 days. ( Revelation 4:5 ) - Trumpets made out of goat’s skin. According to Leviticus 25:9 - It was to celebrate victory. Happiness. Different than the ones that announced the war.
Six days and the soldiers marched around the city. Once a day. The priests carried the ark. 7 Priests in the front playing the trumpets. The soldiers marched in silence. Returned to the camp where they spent the night. On the seventh day, they went around the city 7 times. On the seventh time, the shouted. ( Joshua 6:16 )
-God would make a great miracle to cheer up the people for the conquer of the land.
01. From the word of God.
- Joshua 6:2 “ Says the Lord...” - Is the desire of your heart according to the word of God? -It will be for God’s glory? - Luke 21:33 “heaven and earth will pass away…but my words will not”
02. The presence of God
- Joshua 6:4 “before the Ark” - The presence of God. God in the front all the time. - From verse 4 to verse 13, the ark appears 7x. - God promises that land to Abraham. Genesis 12. - Joshua 21:45. Everything was accomplished.
03. For obeying God.
- Joshua 6:2. God talks to Joshua. - Joshua 6:8. Joshua talks to the people. - There were no questions, no doubts. They just obeyed. - Joshua 6:8. Beep the horn with Ark in the front. Taking care of the details. - Joshua 6:16. Shout, another detail was obeyed. - Illustration. Luke 9:35. “ Listen to him.” Listen to Jesus.
Conclusion.
- Health area. - Financial area. - Family area. - Relationship area. - Professional area.
