Be Blameless - (02/20/05)

Text: Genesis 17:1

Introduction.

- We are observing scandals in all the areas.

- Sports, finances, political and in the church.

- Abraham at 99 years old receives God’s order. "Be Blameless"

- A small piece of metal that got loosened in the space ship, killed 7 astronauts.

- What is integrity? It is to have everything aligned.

- What is the difference between reputation and integrity?

Reputation is what the others think of me.

Integrity is what God thinks of me.

- How to have integrity? In a world where the norm is to be corrupt.

01. Walk with God.

- Genesis 17:1: "... walk before me and be blameless .."

- Genesis 6:9 "... Noah walked with God. ..". In the environment of the general corruption.

- Genesis 5:24 "... Enoch walked with God". So close to God, that he did not die.

- Full conscience of the presence of God. That he is Emanuel, "God with us".

- Three question to know if God approves what I do:

1. Universality test: what would happen if everyone would do it?

2. Test of the light: Need to do it secretly?

3. Spiritual test: I can pray, asking for God’s blessings?

- Joseph: I can not do that, or I would sin against my God.

02. Decide to have integrity.

- Galatians 2:20. Word of another honest man.

- Job 1:1. Job deviated from evil.

- You decide and initiate a new walk. - Do no imagine the "popcorn effect".

Corn in the pot, corn leave popcorn.

- It is not a magic trick. It is a long walk, painful, of many losses.

- It is a decision forever.

- John 15:5. Do not try alone. You and I need Jesus.

Conclusion.

- God spoke with Abraham, "be blameless" when he was 99 years old.

- Genesis 25:7. He died at 175 years old. More 76 years after he heard the word of God.

- How many years will you live?

- How do you want to live?

- Abraham, Noah, Enoch, Job and Paul are simply inspirations. They show that it is possible.

- Remember: we need Jesus.

- Everybody is transparent to God, we are enable to conceal anything from him.

- We need to be transparent within ourselves.

- "All hidden sin is an open scandal in heaven"

- God does not pour his holiness in soil vase.
