Text: Psalm 122:1
Introduction
- The theme of this Psalm is fellowship the house of the Lord. - What Jerusalem was to the Israelites, the church is to the Christians. - What brings us to the church? 01. To worship God - What is worship? It is give someone the value he deserves -It’s also feed your mind with God’s will. - Who is the center of the service? Me or God? - The service takes place when my spirit meets with the Holy Spirit - The crises of the leader: guide the service instead of worship - Who needs to guide the service is the Holy Spirit - You need to worship.
02. To have a friend.
Examples: 1) Jesus: Luke 22:28-29. “In my temptations” 2) Paul: II Timothy 4:9. The pastor calls a friend.
- James 5:16 and Proverbs 17:17. The level that the word proposes. - Church is a place where the “different” meet - It is important to have affinity. - Illustration: “You can have a group, but without a cover” - You NEED a friend. Just people you know are not enough. 03. To practice my gift. -Pr. Luiz Paulo: “People in the church is like manure in the farm, when all together, smells bad, all over the place gives fruits.” - We only hear about the gift of the tongue. - We can find at least 22 gifts in the scriptures. ( Administration-Apostle- Creative Communication, Discernment-Encouragement-Evangelism-Faith-Contribution-Help-Hospitality- Intercession-knowledge-Leadership- Mercy-Prophet-Pastor-Teaching-Wisdom-Cure-Interpretation-Miracles ) - Illustration: - Exodus 18:17-18 “Moses does everything” - Universal priests of the believer. - In the Old Testament only the priests had access to the Holy of Holy - Through Jesus, in the New Testament, we all have access to the father. - All were saved to serve. Conclusion.
- For what do we come to church?
- To worship
- To have a friend
- To exercise a gift that God gave me.
- Why do people stay away from the church? - Because one, two or 3 of these were not reached.
