It's Cold in the Furnace - (04/09/06)

Text: Daniel 3:19-27

Introduction

- Daniel 3:1-18. Comments to the congregation.
- Daniel 3:19. “...the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual”.
- Daniel 3:14 and 17. Fight between God and the gods
 
01. The faithfulness of the youth men.

- Daniel 3:17 a. They had two choices:

1) To Be Strong
2) To forget about God

- Daniel 1:1,3,6. They were immigrants and they did not go there because they wanted.
- Daniel 1:7. The chief official gets to change their names.
- But he did not change them inside.
- Application: All people were worshiping...it’s was easier.
- They did not question faith in God, but idolatry.
- God doesn’t call us for success but for faithfulness.
- Illustration: John Nas and Bety Nas were beheaded in China
- They were colleagues of Pr. Shedd and left a child of 1 year old.

 02. The divine company.

 - Daniel 3:25. Nebuchadnezzar sees 4 people in the furnace.
- Matthew 28:20 is fulfilled back in the Old Testament.
- Psalm 84: 2,6,10,11 (sun and shield). Valley of Baca is a valley without water.
- Illustration: Jacob; “I won’t let you go unless you bless me”

 03. The deliverance of God.

- Daniel 3:26. The prophecy of Isaiah 43:1-3 is fulfilled.
- Paul: Philippians 1:21. To die is gain.
- We have experiences with God as we seek him.
- The experiences make us grow spiritually. Promote changes.

Conclusion.

- We have 3 sources of light at our disposition.

1. The light inside of us: our consciousness that helps us decide, want and evaluate

2. The light outside: the word we receive from more experienced people.

3. The light above: The action of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

- Daniel 3:25 “I see four men walking around in the fire”
- In the greatest difficulties, in the biggest dangers, we can walk in a garden.
- Luke 1:37: “For nothing is impossible with God.”
