If I Died Tomorrow - (03/12/06)

Text: Matthew 26:17-20 . Matthew 26:39 . Matthew 27:50

Introduction.

We are well prepared to keep on living.

We have a great difficulty in thinking about death.

Jesus is our example in everything, including this subject.

01. If I died tomorrow... I would have a banquet with my friends.

Matthew 26:17-20. It was Thursday, end of the day.

Got together with friends, even taking the risk of being betrayed.

A difficult time had come.

John 2:4, John 7:30, John 16:32. Jesus was referring to the moment of his death.

In the Bible, a table set up for a meal appears 200 times.

02.If I died tomorrow...I would spend some time on my own.

Matthew 26:39.

He brings 12 to the Gethsemane, chooses 3 and ends up alone.

"How to have a Mary's heart in a Martha's world"

Let me speak a little of physical hunger.

In the 1974 World Conference about Food, they set a goal : get rid of famine in the world by 1984.

  •  About 815 million people are chronic victims of poor nutrition and most of them are women and children.
  • A child dies of hunger in the world every seven seconds.

I think it is the same when it comes to the spiritual hunger.

Amos 8:11 brings a prophecy even more tragic.

Isaiah 55:6 The advice of the Word of God.

03. If I died tomorrow... I would pray placing all my confidence in the Lord.

Matthew 27:50

I Would follow the great servant's example, Stephen. Acts 7:59

Illustration " Father, I am ready".

Conclusion.

Yes; I would meet friends. Even taking the risk of betrayal. Judas and Peter.

I would spend time with God. Repentance in Heaven, for lack of more prayer.

I would place my confidence for the last time in the Lord. Job's example.

Life is short. II Timothy 4:6-8 (Paul)

But the great challenge today is: I am going to do this now. I am going to start doing this right away.

Help us to serve you better
