Feeling Compressed? - (12/05/04)

Everything started again. The threat of consumption compresses us. Cod Fish here, a toy there, new clothes, and Christmas is all about food, drink, presents and feasts.

The world doesn’t know what Christmas is. Christmas for them is Santa Claus, wine, cod fish and presents. The stomach becomes full, although the soul is empty. The joy of this Christmas goes away very fast. It goes away together with the feasts.

Think about the first Christmas that was so simple. Humbled people like pastors, that had nothing felt a great joy. Rich men like the wise men were stunned. The real joy was in Jesus. Only Jesus!

Let’s celebrate a very simple Christmas, a Christmas where the supreme joy is in one person: Jesus. A Christmas that is full of adoration, songs and gratitude to God. Jesus was and still is the present we received. From Him comes our salvation and eternal life. Is there anything better?

No, don’t let the compressor squeeze you. May this Christmas be made of unforgettable moments in God’s presence. May it be full of praises to Jesus, our Savior. Remember: “The kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Hoy Spirit.”
(Romans 14:17)

Don’t run after the world’s Christmas, but be with Jesus’ Christmas.
