"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden." (Matthew 5:14)

Jesus, before going to heaven, said to his disciples: "You are the salt of the earth and light of the world". This serves for all Christians until our days.

A lighthouse keeper of a sea coast realizes one night that the lighthouse was totally off. Soon, he started to know the reason for the lack of light. Everything seams to be in the right place. The reflector was giving its light, but the lighthouse wouldn't illuminate. Examining the big window-glass of the lighthouse, he found it completely covered with mosquitoes and moths, in so great number that the light couldn't pass thought. Quickly, he cleaned the window-glass but in the next day, he saw that the lack of light caused a ship to sink.

The world is in darkness. The men remain condemned, under the weight of his sins, in eternal perdition.

It's good to remember in this first Sunday of the year what Jesus said. Let's not forget the "symbol" of our church in Kearny: a lighthouse.

Don't aloud any "moth" of indifference, spiritual coldness, selfish and love for material things, to impede you from shining.

As lighthouse of a coast, you should shine for Jesus, pointing to the lost ones, the eternal salvation in Jesus Christ.

Place your testimony and salvation of souls as goals for this New Year, and God will help us in this purpose.
