I went to the movies with a group of brothers and sisters to watch “Carandiru”, by Hector Babenco, which reflects a Detention Home in São Paulo, that is no longer functioning today. The movie is guided by Dr. Drauzio Varella who worked there at the time. He heard the prisoners, their stories of passions, love, hate, crimes and friendships.
At the final part of the movie, one of the outlaws, a cold blooded strong who used to kill outside and inside the prison asked the doctor: “Is there a remedy for the feeling of guilty, doctor?”

I remembered immediately a new believer who asked me one time: “Pastor, what do I do with the things I know.?” He asked this because of all the mistakes committed in the past bothered him.

Yes, there is a remedy for the feeling of guilty. And I’m not talking about any of the antibiotics that medicine has developed recently. Unfortunately, Dr. Drauzio Varella doesn’t know it; otherwise he could recommend it, since it’s an old and powerful remedy. David tried it one hundred years before Jesus. Also Zacchaeus, Peter and Paul. Even a dying man, a robber on the cross, and they were healed. The pain of guilt is intense. King David said that it hurts the soul, the body and even the most rigid parts of the body, the bones. The person becomes ill-humored and completely desperate.

The remedy for guilty is called “covered sin”. You have to take it with repentance. God covers the sin with His mantle of mercy by the grace of Christ Jesus. His action is immediate. The purifying power of Christ Jesus acts in the individual, freeing him from a past of unfaithfulness. The patient feels very good, and has peace with God, with himself and others. Also he feels the joy of living. If you feel any regret inside your heart, and you are being crushed by the pain of guilt, don’t lose more time. The remedy is the grace of God that has no side effects.
