Above and beyond the bible, is the God of the Bible. The bible is the written revelation of God about His will for men. Its central theme is salvation through Jesus Christ. The New Testament was written in Greek and our bible is a translation of these original languages. The word Bible comes from the Greek word “biblios”. The word “Testament” means “alliance”. The Old Testament is the alliance between God and men regarding salvation, after Christ came. In the Old Testament we find the law alliance. In the New Testament we find the alliance of grace coming from Jesus Christ. One conducts the other. (Galatians 3:17:25). The New Testament completes the Old Testament. The Old Testament gathers around Sinai. The New Testament gathers around Calvary. The old is associated with Moses. The New is associated with Christ. The authors were kings and princes, poets and philosophers and chiefs of states. Some of them were instructed in the culture of their time, and others were fishermen with no culture. Some books become obsolete, but this one crosses the centuries. Most books need to be adapted to different ages and groups but the bible inspires children and adults. Most books are regional and only interest the people of that language, but this doesn’t happen with the bible. Nobody thinks the bible was written in languages that are considered dead. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
