Once upon a time there was a very bright girl. She saw many Easter chocolate eggs in a store and when she came home she asked her father to buy one of those for her. 'A chocolate this size?' Asked the father showing with his hand a very small size? 'No' she said. The father who was seated with the girl on his lap, stood up, opened his arms and asked: 'This size?'. The girl climbed the chair and stretch out her little hands above her father’s head, opened her eyes and said: 'Look, I want an Easter chocolate egg this size'. The father stopped smiling and said amazed: 'Why do you want a chocolate egg this size?' And the answer came quickly: 'It’s because I want an egg with you inside!'
There is nothing wrong in giving chocolates to the children. What is wrong is a father that gives chocolates to his children instead of giving himself. Many parents fill their children with presents in an attempt to supply the lack of attention. Your children want you, and not only the chocolates you can give them.
It’s also wrong not to teach your children the true meaning of Easter. Our Easter is Jesus. Through Jesus, God gave himself for us, taking all our sins, dying on the cross of Calvary. Give your time to your children, hear them, talk to them, and show them that they are important to you. Open your Bible read and explain the Passion of Christ. I’m sure that you are more important to your children than chocolates. Give of yourself to them and lead them to Jesus. They need to hear about Jesus through you. Give more than chocolates to them; give your example of faith in Jesus. Pr. João Falcão Sobrinho.
