The bible is the most singular of all books, for 3 reasons: First: It was written by a tender and lovely God, and directed to the sinner to teach him about God and man. Second: It's not only one book but a series of 66 books. Third: It’s the only work in the world that tells the man the truth about the past, present and future. Consequently, it’s not necessary to lose time trying to prove its veracity. However it’s good to understand how and why the bible has emerged. The word Bible comes from the Greek “Biblios”, which means book. When we think of a book, it always come to our mind a volume which may be placed on a shelf in a vertical. But the old books were written in papyrus sheets in the format of a roll. God reveals himself to humanity through 3 specific ways: Through the Creation: “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.” Psalm 19:1. Through Jesus Christ: “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high” Hebrews 1:1-3 Through the Bible : “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Tim. 3:16-17 The 66 books in the bible are the most complete way God reveals himself to man, and it’s in our reach constantly. We can study it every time we want to. He promised to light ourselves up with His Holy Spirit, while we read and study the Bible. From the book: How to Study the Bible Alone
