Baptism at KBC

When a person accepts Jesus as their Savior, he begins to know a new meaning for the baptism. Many people think that we become a believer after are baptized, however, the bible doesn’t teach that.

Two texts for the Word of God help us understand the teaching about baptism.:

Matthew 3: 13-17

Acts 8:26-39.

The first one narrates the baptism of Jesus himself.

The second narrates the baptism of an Ethiopian official.

We can take some lessons out of these two texts:

  • The person who was baptized took the decision to do so. He or she understood what they were doing and why they were doing. We don’t find in the bible a teaching that justifies the baptism of babies.
  • Baptism comes always after a person accepts Jesus Christ as a Savior.
  • The new believer was baptized immediately. They were not ashamed of what they were doing. They gave their public Testimony of Faith in Jesus.
  • Each one was submerged in the waters. The word baptism means “submerge”.

We can also assure that the baptism is important because Jesus was baptized and He gave an order that all who believed was to be baptized.

When a believer submerges in the water, he is saying to the world that Jesus Christ is the only Savior, this is a testimony. We also become part of the Church, which is the body of Christ. We give our allegiance to the church. Now, we not only take our name but also the name of Christian.
